• The beekeeper must then purchase something to raise the hive off the ground, such as legs, wooden stands, concrete blocks, or pallets.

• The beekeeper must then purchase paint to protect the woods against weather and UV and usually hire someone to paint the hives.

• The beekeeper must purchase propolis inserts to encourage hygienic propolis production within the hive.

• The beekeeper must invest in time and materials to guard against ants.

• The beekeeper needs to purchase hive insulation for the winters and invest time and money to wrap the hives and unwrap the hives each year
