Reviving Honey Bee Communities

Because Hives were designed primarily for HUMAN convenience, not the BEES
Finally we have Hives designed for both the BEES and HUMANS
The honeybee survived and thrived for millions of years because of near perfect symbiotic and interdependent relationship with a broad spectrum of flowering fauna.
The modern beekeeping challenges the honey bee like never before. Conventional beehives were primarily designed for human convenience rather than for the bees. It shows up with higher mortality rates and lower honey production compared to feral bees colonies in hollows of trees. CaMar Bee Products changes the hive environment without changing the outside dimensions allowing the conversion from legacy systems to new era in beekeeping.
The CaMar Hive System evolved from studying ways to solve the high death rate of the American bees.
CaMar Bee hive systems reverse engineered the approximate insulation value of a hollow of a tree resulting in 20% less mortality rates and 30% more harvestable honey.

Modern Hives are Neither Modern Nor Designed for Bees

Bees evolved over 30 million years living in hollow trees, protected by thick insulating walls. Today’s standard wooden hives use walls barely 3/8 of an inch thick—a design flaw that creates unhealthy moisture and forces bees to burn energy just to survive the winter. We set out to change that.
After ten years of research and material development, CaMar Bee has created a composite hive system that restores the bees’ natural thermal environment.

CaMar’s proprietary Langstroth and Layen Horizontal hive systems are now available to the beekeeping industry.

Layens Hive vs Langstroth Hive
Need help in deciding which Hive Design to choose from? Both are designed for optimal bee health and productivity.
The Hidden Cost of Poor Insulation
In inadequately insulated hives, bees must work continuously to generate warmth through muscle vibration, burning through their precious honey stores at an accelerated rate. Since honey fuels the colony's survival, this excessive winter consumption means significantly less harvestable surplus for you come spring.
The problem compounds further: increased honey consumption means more bees need to eliminate waste. When cold weather prevents cleansing flights, colonies often foul their own living space, creating unsanitary conditions that threaten hive health.
Beyond Traditional Winter Wrapping
While wrapping hives for winter provides some benefit, it's an imperfect solution. Most beekeepers struggle to achieve proper insulation ratios between the roof and sidewalls—and even well-wrapped hives often leave the top critically under-insulated where it matters most.
The CaMar Langstroth and Layen hive systems eliminate this guesswork entirely. With pre-engineered, precision-calibrated R-values built into the design, you get optimal thermal performance without any seasonal maintenance. No more purchasing insulation wraps, no installation labor in fall, no removal work in spring—just consistent, science-based climate control that protects your bees and preserves your honey harvest year after year.

About Camar Bee Box
Crafting quality Layens bee boxes for hobbyists and commercial beekeepers to support healthy, thriving bee colonies.

Trusted by Beekeepers
Conventional hive boxes offer a box. Camar hives offer so much more.

The beekeeper must then purchase something to raise the hive off the ground, such as legs, wooden stands, concrete blocks, or pallets.
The beekeeper must then purchase paint to protect the woods against weather and UV and usually hire someone to paint the hives.
The beekeeper must purchase propolis inserts to encourage hygienic propolis production within the hive.
The beekeeper must invest in time and materials to guard against ants.
The beekeeper needs to purchase hive insulation for the winters and invest time and money to wrap the hives and unwrap the hives each year
All of these add-on requirements and labor can cost more than the hive boxes.
CaMar Bee Products hive system includes:
Bee Box
Full insulation - our hive systems are fully insulated. The insulation profile approximates the insulation values in the hollow of trees. This critically important.
Already color sealed and protected against the weather
Retractable legs set in pans of oil to protect against ants [oil not included]
Inside walls are etched to encourage bees to produce the antibiotic propolis.
In short, CaMar Bee Products are a cost-effective, high-value, all-in-one solution for a healthy hive.
